The Social Media Manager will oversee and manage all content and communications published and received via Protect Our Winters Australia’s existing Instagram and Facebook accounts:

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Linkedin

This may include but is not limited to:

  • 1-2 original content posts (Including Stories and Reels) per week during the snow season from early June to early October each year.
  • 1-3 original content posts per month outside the snow season from October to April each year.
  • Graphic design, photo and video editing and copywriting for all original content.
  • Selection and re-posting of relevant content as might be applicable – e.g. From POW Ambassadors, POW international & other chapters (e.g. POW NZ, POW EU), Content Partners (e.g. Mountain Safety Collective), Event Partners and Sponsors.
  • Monitoring and replying to social media comments and direct messages where appropriate and escalating messages to relevant POW Aus Committee Members as necessary.
  • Monitoring and reporting of social media analytics to the Pow Aus Committee.
  • We currently use Later to plan, schedule and automate our Instagram posts.
  • The Social Media Manager will develop a consistent tone and style for POW Australia’s social media presence (in line with that of POW international) and develop plans to drive audience engagement and growth.

POW Australia wants to be perceived as informed, educational, measured, approachable, inclusive and fun.

Social content might include — Still imagery, carousels, video reels and informative graphics covering:

  • Relevant Climate News
  • Industry/Snow Statistic News (Global/Regional & Local)
  • Local Resort News
  • Athlete/Ambassador News (e.g. Event wins, film screenings etc.)
  • Local Event Teasers/Recaps
  • Partner & Sponsor Features
  • Informative Solution Based Climate Campaigns
  • Motivational Content to Mobilise the Snow Industry/Audience
  • Inspirational resort, ski touring, splitboarding and alpine adventure content
  • Best practices, mountain safety and hazards (Syndicating MSC)
  • Snow Science & Alpine Ecology content
  • Competitions and giveaways
  • Backcountry community events
  • Ad hoc Collab Posts

The Social Media Manager will work collaboratively with POW Australia’s Communications Director through the course of their engagement and may be invited to participate in POW Committee meetings to provide updates on their role.
