Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is a place based community agency that strives for the empowerment of individuals and groups within the local community who face disadvantage, isolation and obstacles to effective social and economic participation.

WCC recently received funding from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to deliver fortnightly community lunches for people experiencing financial hardship. This role assists in the delivery of the community lunch program by helping with set up, food service and engagement with community members attending the lunch. The lunches are held at the Food Collective Café which is located in Building B, Melbourne Polytechnic Epping every second Friday from 12pm-2pm.

Volunteer Responsibilities: • Assist to set up fortnightly community lunches including setting tables and food/drink service area • Serving food to community members that attend the lunch • Engaging in friendly conversation with community members and helping them to feel welcome • Linking community members with WCC staff/students that are present if they require information, referral or support • Encouraging community members to speak with service providers that are present • Assisting community members with accessing a food box • Clearing and wiping down tables at the end of service
