Located in the heart of Carlisle, the Centre has been a trusted community hub for over 50 years. We deliver a diverse range of programs and services that enrich lives and support independence, connection, and well-being for seniors, people with disabilities, and those experiencing social isolation.

Our impact includes:

  • Supporting over 800 clients in the community by providing inclusive aged care home and social support services, helping senior’s stay active and live independently in their own homes.
  • Operating a vibrant community centre, where locals can feel supported and engaged through a variety of events, activities and wellness programs.
  • Serving over 30,000 nutritious meals annually through our community dining and Meals on Wheels service.
  • Providing affordable independent living housing through our 41 retirement village and 4 social housing units.

About the Role

As a Management Committee Member, you will play a vital role in the governance, strategic direction, and sustainability of the Centre. You’ll work alongside a team of passionate community leaders and professionals, contributing your knowledge and insight to help us grow our impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, input, and accountability on governance, strategy, and organisational performance.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and regulatory obligations.

  • Champion the Centre’s mission, values, and goals in the community.

  • Contribute to strategic planning, risk management, and policy development.

  • Support fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy activities (where relevant).

  • Actively participate in monthly meetings and committee discussions.

Desired Skills and Experience

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals of all backgrounds, especially those who reflect the diversity of our community. Skills in the following areas are particularly valuable:

  • Governance, finance, law, or risk management
  • Aged care, health, or community services
  • Human resources, marketing, or fundraising
  • Lived experience as a community member, carer, or service recipient

  Commitment

  • Attend monthly meetings (1–2 hours), with 1–2 hours of reading required beforehand. Meetings are currently scheduled for 5:15 PM on the third Monday of each month.
  • Participate in the Annual General Meeting and occasional community or organisational events.
