About the Role
Baptcare’s The Orchards Aged Care Community in Doncaster East is seeking friendly and reliable volunteer drivers to help transport our residents on local outings and scenic tours. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy driving, connecting with older people, and making a positive impact in the community.
Our residents are enthusiastic, sociable, and love exploring new places. You’ll be driving a Baptcare minibus, accompanied by a staff member who will assist during each outing. If you enjoy great conversations, hearing life stories, and helping others experience joy through community connection, we would love to hear from you.
When: Monday to Thursday, hours flexible (AM or PM)
How often: Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly (max 3-hour shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Drive residents to and from scheduled outings using a Baptcare vehicle
- Ensure safety, comfort, and enjoyment for all passengers
- Collaborate with a staff member accompanying the group
- Represent Baptcare with warmth, patience, and respect
Requirements
- A valid full Australian driver’s licence with a safe driving record
- Confidence and care in driving a minibus (training provided)
- Friendly and respectful approach towards older people, including those with physical or cognitive challenges
- Availability on any weekday (Monday to Thursday) for 1-to-3-hour shifts, either morning or afternoon
- Previous driving experience (e.g., bus or transport driving) is welcomed but not essential
