Facilitate an Intergenerational LEGO Club

Volunteer or Placement Opportunity at Craig Family Centre – Ashburton

Are you passionate about youth and community work? Studying community services, youth work, social work or education? This is your chance to take part in a meaningful, hands-on program supporting social connection and leadership development.

We’re seeking adult facilitators to lead our Intergenerational LEGO Club, where teen mentors (14–18) support children aged 10–12 through creative, structured LEGO building challenges. These children may be shy, neurodivergent, or socially isolated—your role is to help create a welcoming, inclusive space where they can thrive.

As a facilitator, you will:

  • Guide and support teen mentors in their leadership journey
  • Foster positive relationships and inclusive group dynamics
  • Encourage creativity, confidence, and connection through play
  • Help co-design activities and support weekly reflection sessions
  • Model inclusive and strength-based practice

This is an ideal opportunity for students completing a placement or those looking to contribute meaningfully to the community. You’ll gain experience in group facilitation, youth mentoring, and inclusive programming.

Details:

  • Weekly 2-hour sessions during term time
  • Based at Craig Family Centre, Ashburton
  • WWCC required – we can assist you in applying
  • Supervision and support provided

Build more than LEGO—help build confidence, connection, and community.
