Museum Cafe Volunteer

Do you have an energetic nature, work well within a small team and enjoy meeting new people? The Abbey Museum is looking for volunteers to join the Abbey Cafe and front-of-house team.

Be guided by our amazing Cafe Coordinator, Jude, and make hot/ cold drinks, serve food (no cooking required), greet customers with a smile and process orders.

The Abbey Cafe operates Monday - Saturday,10.00am - 2.00pm. Flexible shifts available.

The ideal volunteer will need to have an energetic nature, work well within a small team, and meet the vision and goals of the Abbey Museum. We are looking for exceptional team members to ensure the best visitor experience as we build this business and grow our customer base.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers
• Take orders, process payments, open and close register
• Assist the Museum front desk team with processing admissions and providing retail support when the Cafe is quiet
• Make and serve beverages, tailored to the customer’s preferences
• Basic food preparation
• Setting up display cabinet daily (pre-made and fresh supplies)
• Stock rotation
• Regular cleaning of work areas, seating areas and equipment/ tools

• Consistent, high-quality service and customer experience
• Point of Sale experience
• The ability to work well with others
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to accurately memorise orders
• Ability to build a rapport with regular customers
• The ability to accept constructive feedback and work well under pressure
• High-level of good hygiene practice.
• Basic level of food preparation skills.
