The Avalon Centre is a small charity run entirely by volunteers and has a mission statement 'to meet unmet needs'. Every Tuesday we take a group of people, (some with intellectual disabilities) out for a day trip to different and interesting locations. We go to the hills, the beach, museums, etc. This position is more than just driving, it involves interacting and supporting people with mild intellectual disabilities and some with mental health problems. (There will always be other Volunteers on the trip.) It is a relaxed, fun day that everyone enjoys and that offers an opportunity for people to get out and about.
