Cahoots requires enthusiastic people, aged 18+, to assist children with intellectual disabilities on camp in the school holidays as well as some weekend camps.
Cahoots runs programs and camps for all people above the age of 5 who live with a disability to build confidence, develop independence and social skills. The child should be able to walk unassisted in order to be able to enjoy the activities and outings.
These recreational camps provide much needed respite for families and carers and give you the opportunity to learn in a fully supportive environment. The volunteer’s role is to assist the children with personal care and to encourage them to socialise and have fun! We like to focus on their ABILITY, not their disability.
Cahoots after leaders for their upcoming camp in the future. It’s a great chance to get valuable life experience in working with children and young people and exposure to daily life with a disability.
Please note this position is advertised by the City of Cockburn Volunteer Resource Centre on behalf of the organisation above.
