Volunteer Museum Helper/Guide

Diocese of Geraldton

The Monsignor Hawes Heritage Centre is adjacent to the Cathedral and includes a wonderful Museum. The museum tells the story of Monsignor Hawes as priest and architect through interpretive panels, audio-visual presentations and artefacts. The Heritage Centre will also serve as a gateway to around 23 Monsignor Hawes buildings located from Carnarvon to Bindoon.

The museum is open 7 days a week between 10 am to 4 pm.

The MHHC Volunteer has an important role within the museum. The volunteers tasks include:

  • welcoming and assisting visitors
  • directing visitors to Hawes' buildings in the Midwest
  • selling merchandise

Museum Guides are rostered on for a 3 hour shift from 10 am to 1 pm OR from 1 pm to 4 pm weekly or fortnightly or monthly. Volunteers who are available on an ongoing basis would be preferred. There is flexibility with the roster and you can choose your days.

Apply, if you are someone who:

  • has good communication skills;
  • has a friendly disposition;
  • is punctual;
  • is able to work independently; and
  • can provide information to visitors.

An interest in the heritage of Monsignors Hawes and/or tourism would be an added advantage.

Training will be provided.
