Volunteer with children and young people

Wesley Mission Victoria

Foster carers Become a foster carer and make a big difference in the life of a child or young person, who is unable to live with their family. If you have a spare room, a big heart and can provide a nurturing, stable home environment, we’d love to hear from you. There are different types of fostering, from looking after a child in an emergency, to caring for a young person at weekends, to supporting a child until they’re ready to be independent. And we support you every step of the way.

Youth lead tenant volunteers The lead tenant program provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to live in a shared house setting with a live-in volunteer (the lead tenant). As the lead tenant, you act as a role model, supporting your young housemates to develop appropriate living skills and transition to independent living. This is a volunteer role, however your rent and utilities are paid for. Read more about this exciting opportunity here.

Driver Mentors The L2P learner driver mentor program is open to young persons aged 16-18 who are in out-of-home care and struggling to access support to gain their 120 hours of supervised learner driver experience required to obtain their probationary licence. We need mentors to take young people for driving practice at a time convenient to you, in cars supplied by Wesley. Training is supplied at no cost to you.
