Wynnum Manly Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to assist within the kitchen. Our kitchen volunteers play a vital role in the preparation of meals for our clients and help in the smooth running of our kitchen facilities. No experience is necessary as we will provide full training for the successful volunteer/s but we would like a person with a positive attitude, willing to help wherever necessary, has some knife skills and is able to undertake manual handling tasks without issue.

By carrying out this work we envisage an increase in the abundance and spread of native plants which will create more suitable habitat for animal species.

Marine debris volunteers wanted

Come and join the team at Shelly, Moffat and Dicky Beach for marine debris collection to prevent harmful materials such as rope, nets and plastics from being washed into the ocean and consumed by/entangling our marine life. All debris that is collected from these activities will be recorded and the data will be provided to the Tangaroa Blue Foundation for analysis, a national database on marine debris which helps to identify source polluters.

On Sunday 14 October the Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge will see thousands of people pedalling 100km from South Bank, Brisbane to Southport on the Gold Coast while raising vital funds for BEYONDBLUE, BREAST CANCER NETWORK AUSTRALIA, PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION OF AUSTRALIA, MATER’S SMILING FOR SMIDDY and the HEART FOUNDATION. This event takes an enormous effort to organise and simply would not be possible without the generous help of a large team of volunteers.

Down Syndrome Queensland Camp - Male Peer Support Volunteers

Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) is organising for our young adults with Down syndrome to attend our biannual Challenge Weekend Camp and require male volunteers to assist us with this event. Kookaburra Kids are seeking enthusiastic camp leaders to attend Kookaburra Kids weekend camps in QLD. We currently have 3 camps for 2018 supporting kids from 8-18 yrs of age. Weekend camps run from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon. We are looking for adults over the age of 21 from all walks of life. Camp Leaders do not have to have any experience in mental health. The main goal of a camp leader is support kids to be kids.
