  1. Twilight Toadbusting

    By supporting the Frogwatch organisation, we aim to reduce the numbers of Cane Toads, an invasive species of Australia. After an informative identification session we will head out to different environmentally sensitive sites including Botanical Gardens, Golflinks, RAAF Base in Winnellie and Lee Point to catch toads by hand and using nets. We will also be testing our new cane toad tadpole trap in some local waterways. Please call the office (08) 8981 3206 for further information

  2. Birds of the Top End- Bird Surveys

    With the aim to collect baseline data from various urban lagoons in the Darwin region, we will be recording observations of a set species list. The fast expansion of Darwin and its suburbs has meant that little is known of the effects this urbanisation is having on our local wildlife and bird species of the area. Sites will include; Knuckey Lagoon, Marlow Lagoon, McMinns Lagoon and Fogg Dam.

  4. Marine Debris Surveys - Beautify the Beaches of Darwin

    Darwin has a variety of unique and beautiful beaches. A new location will be surveyed each week for Marine Debris which is then sorted and catalogued on the day, adding to a national database.   5. Heart Foundation Walking - Walk Organisers Wanted!

    Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest FREE walking network. It is a social, fun and easy way for people to walk and be active. Walk Organisers are community members who volunteer to lead their walking group in their neighbourhood or workplace. They do not need to be health professionals or have specific health or physical activity qualifications. They will receive training and support from their Local Coordinator and the Heart Foundation.

    Join Conservation Volunteers Australia for a special Twilight Toadbusting evening at Lee Point Reserve by the beach. This is an important targeted area in which sand goannas and monitors reside. We will be supporting Frogwatch/Reptilewatch to help reduce numbers of Cane Toads in this specific breeding area. A Cane Toad expert will be present to provide a short information session on site before beginning the twilight toadbust!
