  2. Tuesday Twilight Toadbusting in Darwin

    This project aims to help reduce and control numbers of cane toads in local areas of Darwin.   3. Marine Debris Surveys - Beautify the Beaches of Darwin

    Darwin has a variety of unique and beautiful beaches. A new location will be surveyed each Wednesday for marine debris, which are then sorted and catalogued on the day and added to a national database (Tangaroa Blue). Sites include Rapid Creek/Nightcliff, Mindil, East Point, Buffalo Creek, Casuarina and Lee Point. With your help we can reduce debris and preserve our beaches.   4. Wetland restoration at Knuckey and McMinns Lagoon in Darwin

    Wetlands play a critical role in flood mitigation, water and carbon storage, and supporting an abundance of unique local plant and animal species. Conservation Volunteers are building a sustainable strategy for the management of this area and invite volunteers to be a part of this management with activities including weed removal, watering, tree trimming, track maintenance, tree planting, wildlife monitoring and surveys.   5. Atlas Moth Restoration Project in Darwin

    This project aims to protect and improve habitat for sand goannas (Varanus gouldii), and to encourage the reintroduction of the atlas moth (Attacus wardi).     Salvos Stores volunteers come from all walks of life, with individual goals from benefiting their local community, to having fun, learning new skills, and increasing self-confidence, and much more. Our growing volunteer base, now 5100 strong, helped Salvos Stores provide $21.5m to essential Salvation Army Programs, including $2.7m in clothing and other household items. Each year, the efforts of our volunteers help divert approximately 20,000 tonnes of goods from going to landfill.
