We hold a gathering for our community every Tuesday between 0900-1300 where people can come to receive food and financial assistance. These events are an important venue for many community members to come and socialise. The Social Connector must be able to hold conversations with strangers, assist people to complete forms and enjoy a coffee with them. Between 2-4 hours (one day) per week.
Albany’s Historic Whaling Station is the home of Australia’s last whaling company, and now provides a fascinating insight into Albany’s colourful past. Recognised as a heritage site, we are an engaging and educational tourism attraction for all ages. We are on the lookout for additional volunteers to join our team.
The Volunteer Tutor Program is a part of the AMEP. It offers informal language tutors to help migrants and refugees to improve their English. The Program relies on trained volunteers who work on a one-to-one basis, outside the classroom environment, either online or face to face. Every AMEP student is offered the opportunity by SR TAFE for Volunteer support for 1 hour per week. Volunteer Tutors play an important role to support new Australians to settle into the Australian culture.
Our residential facility in Albany is looking for volunteers to assist with activities within the facility. Volunteers are needed to help the Disabled Surfers Association "Let's Go Surfing Days". Volunteers will be helping in the water, standing on each side when the surfer comes surfing into the shore, clapping and encouraging as well as guiding them to stay in (need many people to do this). The garden volunteers at Strawberry Hill Barmup would like to welcome some new members to join their happy crew. Volunteers are needed to help with the gardening in the historical gardens and grounds of Strawberry Hill. Tasks could include any of the following: weeding, pruning, planting, digging.
