We are seeking champion volunteers to visit lonely older people in Ivanhoe and its surrounding suburbs. Our program helps to improve the lives of older people who face social isolation through meaningful friendships. We are English learners who are eager to improve our English skills, much like how plants need water. If you are proficient in spoken English and are willing to teach online, we would greatly appreciate your assistance. Our primary focus is on conversational English. You will be welcomed by friendly and supportive individuals within our community, you will have an enjoyable experience while contributing to our collective growth.
Boroondara Cooks is a meal sharing and community-strengthening program that supports older residents (Diners) who live in their own home, however aren’t always able to cook for themselves. The program connects community members (Volunteer Cooks) who are happy to share an extra portion of their home cooked meal with an older neighbour on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. The Diner appreciates a regular home cooked meal delivered to them and a friendly face to say hello.

We have heaps of fun, simple and rewarding opportunities to lend a hand for one to two hours on a Saturday morning at parkrun events across Australia. No training is required, roles are fully supported on the day and you can take part as often or as little as you would like. You can volunteer as a marshal, timekeeper, photographer or try your hand at scanning barcodes and handing out tokens…..to name a few of the roles we have available.

Something as simple as looking well-groomed can make people in this situation feel more like their 'normal' self, and contribute to a sense of wellbeing and reduction in anxiety.

Trentwood at the Hub facilitates a monthly Repair Cafe where community members can bring items that need repairing to reduce household items ending up in landfill. We are seeking a volunteer to take on the Repair Cafe Facilitator to assist in the coordinating of the program and administrative tasks.
