The Sydney Heritage Fleet Workshops in Rozelle Bay is a busy hive of activity. Our main restoration project is steamer John Oxley, and there are many regularly used vessels on which maintenance is essential. Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates fine examples of our maritime heritage. Including 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP steam launch Lady Hopetoun, 1,000-passenger doublle ended ferry Kanangra and many historic vessels especially tall ship James Craig. We need your help to complete the restoration of ex-Moreton Bay pilot steamer John Oxley (760 tons) by joining our riveting team.

Sydney Heritage Fleet is voluntary group dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels representing our Maritime history. We own in addition to many smaller boats, the former VIP steam yacht Lady Hopetoun, steam tug Waratah (1902, Cockatoo Island), !,000 passenger double-ended Sydney Harbour Ferry Kanangra, and ex-Moreton Bay pilot steamer John Oxley, for which we need deck hands.

Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates historic steam ships, sailing ships and many smaller launches. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.

They include James Craig, a fully rigged tall ship, Kanangra a large double-ended Sydney harbour ferry, steamship John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot ship, Waratah a steam tug of 1902 vintage, Lady Hopetoun once the fastest steam launch on the harbour, a fine sailing schooner, and several diesel motor launches.

Sunday May 19, 2024 A family-friendly, fun-filled morning requires no special skills, experience, or training – just your presence and enthusiasm. Some tasks may include directing and encouraging participants around the course, selling merchandise, and handing out participants' packs. There is even a role for the keen bike riders out there! We need volunteers on the day from 6.45 a.m. to approximately midday in various roles.
