Help grow and maintain the butterfly-attracting plants to be sold at the Butterfly House and the plants needed continuously for egg-laying, caterpillar food and nectar in the Butterfly House and Breeding Laboratory. Potting, propagation, weeding and watering the established nursery areas. In Butterfly House, pruning to encourage blooming for nectar and maintaining attractive gardens, paths and other features. Maintain tidy facility. Training is provided. Enthusiasm welcome.
Learn about the amazing Butterfly Life Cycle. ‘Learn as you work’ caring for the hungry caterpillars. Assist in the collection of butterfly eggs. Help hang chrysalises for the new butterflies to emerge safely. Clean and sterilise equipment to prevent disease outbreaks. Release new-born butterflies into the Butterfly House. No experience necessary. All training is provided. Shifts required are two x 3.5hrs per week. A reasonable degree of fitness is needed to be on your feet. Interesting work!
Introduce our guests to the wonders of Butterflies and their amazing life cycle! Personality is important, along with presentation and ability to communicate with a broad audience. You will enjoy it as much as our visitors. You will be giving groups of visitors a 15-20 minute education tour on the butterfly life cycle and other interesting facts. This is done in front of live displays to prompt you! Training is provided on-the-job. Palm cards OK. Times include Sundays and/or Wednesdays.
If you like working with nature you are going to love the Bribie Island Butterfly House! In the 18 months since we opened on beautiful Bribie Island, we have had over 25,000 visitors. Help give our visitors a great experience inside the Butterfly House. Show them butterflies laying eggs, feeding, mating etc. Supervise and enforce the ‘no touch’ rule re butterflies. Be yourself and be friendly!

Ipswich Hospital Foundation (IHF) is partnering with the Ipswich Show Society to coordinate the management of their short stay caravan park over the weekends/public holidays/office closure periods. To assist the Foundation in this fundraising opportunity, IHF are seeking volunteers to participate in this ongoing project on a shared roster system.
