Volunteers will need to have a desire to engage with older people from a range of backgrounds and have a special interest to share eg art, music, cooking, gardening, reading to residents. Previous experience with people living with dementia would be advantageous. You will need to have a sense of humour, able to display empathy and be patient.
Primary focus of this role is to assist community residents to remain independent in their community. Duties include working in residents gardens for approx. 1 - 2 hours per client, volunteers work in pairs, assist with low level gardening tasks eg weeding, sweeping paths, trimming plants, planting, re-potting.
