Driving mentor to young novice drivers aged 16 to 25 who have barriers to completing their 50 'log book' hours to obtain their driver's licence. The supervised driving hours are not driving instruction or lessons. The role of the volunteer driving mentor is similar to that of a parent or other family member assisting with supervised driving practice. The driving mentor role will also include building a positive rapport and non-judgmental approach to working with youth while promoting safe road use with clients.

All of the young drivers have to first be appraised by a driving instructor to make sure that they have enough experience and sufficient skills to be able to drive with a volunteer mentor.

A RYDE vehicle which is comprehensively insured, maintained and has a fuel card is provided.
