The Community Garden Coordinator provides guidance regarding garden planning and production to the Gold Coast Health garden project team and garden volunteers. The coordinator defines duties and facilitates gardeners and resources, paying attention to the details of the garden while staying acquainted with opportunities in the hospital and surrounding community. Poisons will not be used in the community garden area.
Tasks include:
- Identify planting schedules and resource requirements
- Outline activities, tasks required on a weekly basis to be completed by volunteers
- Identify training needs and workshop ideas
- Provide advice to garden volunteer coordinator on potential volunteer activities
Skills and Experience:
- A passion for gardening
- Enjoys overseeing/supervising community projects and working with people
- Good communication, friendly helpful manner and respect for other people's opinions
- Ability to work outdoors, use garden tools and apply safe work practices
- Permaculture or horticulture experience (desirable)
- Participate in or lead garden workshops to create opportunities for shared learning and garden skill development
