Fred’s Place is a day-time homeless service providing immediate assistance to people experiencing Homelessness.
Fred’s Place provides the following services:
• Food, tea and coffee
• Shower and Toilet Facilities
• Laundry Facilities
• A referral service to other agencies
• Case management support and advocacy
As a Volunteer, you could be welcoming service users to Fred’s Place, assisting with provision of shower and laundry services, providing tea and coffee and toasted Sandwiches, assistance with any other help required by the service users, and just being there with a listening ear or a friendly chat.
Volunteers need to be flexible, friendly, reliable and sensitive to those experiencing homelessness. Be a people person, non-judgmental, approachable and trustworthy.
We aim to empower volunteer support workers with the skills to assist clients to identify and access relevant services. We recruit and train volunteers to ensure a high standard of assistance for clients and also provide a supportive environment to all volunteers.
The role requires a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Police check which is organised through the Society.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness in the Tweed Heads region.
