About this opportunity

About Uniting
At Uniting we work together to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice. We've been supporting people and families in local communities across Victoria and Tasmania for over 100 years.

Today, we provide over 770 programs and services to people of all ages to learn, thrive and enjoy a healthy, happy life. We're there for children, families, people with disability, older people and those experiencing homelessness, mental illness or drug and alcohol addiction.

Uniting values people who are respectful, compassionate, imaginative and bold. We are looking for people who, like us, celebrate diversity and welcome everyone regardless of ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation and gender identity.

About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to prepare a delicious meal for people seeking asylum in Australia through our recreational Saturday Program. Saturday Lunch Team Members will assist clients with menus and shopping lists; receive and sort donated food items; prepare the Saturday lunch; shop for additional food supplies and ensure that the kitchen is kept tidy.

About you
We're looking for motivated people committed to supporting and improving the lives of people seeking asylum in Australia. If you have an interest in food and cooking, have regular ongoing availability and has a positive can-do attitude, we would like to hear from you. An understanding of empathy, the ability to build rapport and being a team player are critical in this role.

Knowledge and understanding of the factors impacting on the well being of individuals, families and communities and experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.
