MTC Australia is a leading not for profit provider of education, employment, training and support for young people. We are seeking to recruit volunteers to mentor high school students in South West and Western Sydney.
The Youth Frontiers Program
Youth mentoring for young people aged 12 to 16. The program is designed to build young people’s skills, capacity and community connectedness.
The mentor supports a local high school student (who will be matched to the mentor) through 35 hours of group and individual mentoring. The majority of this will be conducted face to face for a minimum of 2 hours per week, over two school terms starting Term 2, April 2018. The aim will be to build the capacity of mentors to provide quality mentoring to young people and to volunteer in their community. The mentor will support and discuss the mentee’s ideas for future plans for their post school journey. This support may include discussion on a career direction, further study, and other options.
Who are we looking for?
You must have an engaging personality that connects easily with young people and a passion to help our young people to work on a community project and develop a healthy post school journey.
You must be available to commit to a 6 month program from April. A minimum of 2 hours per week.
Full training and ongoing support is provided.
Volunteering is a great way to contribute to your community. It provides a variety of benefits, including making new friends, helping to build young people’s skills, sharing experiences and becoming a part of the local community.
If you are a natural mentor and are ready for the challenge, please send a brief expression of interest and apply today.
All successful volunteers will be required to undergo a criminal history check and working with children certification.
We appreciate your application and interest.
