WRSC volunteers divide their time between helping to rescue, rehabilitate and release native wildlife and other essential support roles. These other roles include fundraising, public education, publicity, joining the telephone roster and transportation of animals. These support roles are important to the successful functioning of the group and can be very rewarding to the volunteer.
WRSC operates in the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Tablelands, Shoalhaven, South Coast and Far South Coast to the Victorian border. We are seeking volunteers from any part of this area.
WRSC is licensed by the National Parks and Wildlife service. Under this licence, volunteers who want to care for native animals are required to become a member of WRSC. Those taking part in our activities work within our guidelines and regulations.
Becoming a member does not mean that you will immediately begin independently caring for injured or orphaned animals. We offer training courses that will provide you with the required knowledge before you start on the rehabilitation path. But there are many other activities that you can immediately become part of that will directly help our vulnerable wildlife.
WRSC receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of the public and local businesses.
