Some volunteers join us multiple days per week, some can only commit to one day per fortnight. Retirees, students, parents, full-time workers, and job seekers all make up our volunteer team. We have daytime and nighttime opportunities, full or half days. Any commitment we get from our volunteers is appreciated greatly!
All Volunteers will have an induction, followed by three days of experiencing multiple facets of our operation. Training will be an ongoing process for all volunteers involved in Food Without Borders. Working with Children's Checks are preferred.
Full drivers license (capable of a manual transmission) will be required for all persons who wish to become a driver.
Food Without Borders is a food waste program which diverts perfectly good produce from landfill, dispersing it to those in need, and people wanting to shop ethically.
The Inconvenience Store, in the Thornbury Lentil As Anything, displays all of the food rescued by our drivers in the form of a mini "supermarket". The store is run by a team of passionate volunteers who work with our customers to create an inclusive space and educate people about the global problem of food waste.
If your strength lies in communicating our message, driving about and rescuing food otherwise destined for the bin, marketing, food prep, being creative, or anything in between, we want to meet you!
Throughout your entire time at Food Without Borders, you will be constantly learning new skills, approaching new challenges, meeting new people and challenging your capabilities in a fun, inclusive and accepting work environment.
Apply to find out how you can contribute to tackling the food waste epidemic!
