HammondCare Australia

Logo for HammondCare Australia

Volunteer with your dog or pet in Greenwich Hospital so that patients can enjoy the company of your pet. You'll enjoy this opportunity to spend time with people and chat.

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity, specialising in dementia and palliative care. We are passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with us to enhance the lives of our patients.

As you're bringing your pet into a care environment, we ask that your pet is:

  • Calm and gentle in nature
  • Clean and up-to-date with vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas
  • Nails should be short and blunt. Freshly cuts nails can be sharp if not filed down.
  • Dogs should be kept on a lead at ALL times.

Successful applicants must be aged 18 years or older, and will be required to complete a national police check which HammondCare will organise and pay for. We will also discuss the mandatory immunization requirements.

Your impact

Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
