    Shift Times: As agreed with Business Manager Hours required per shift: 3 – 4 hour shifts Days: Select from 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) subject to your availability Location of shifts: Rainbows and Vic’s at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

    Special Requirements
     Completion of Safe Food Handling training
     Compliance with the Food Safety plan is essential
     Ability to stand for extended periods of time
     Manual handling experience
     DCSI Child Related Police Clearance required. (arranged by Friends of WCH at no cost)

    As a Shops Volunteer you need to be:

     Able to communicate well with others
     Friendly and welcoming to people from all walks of life
     Able to work as part of a team
     Able to work with minimal supervision
     Be reliable and commit to roster times
     Able to seek assistance when required

    Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance)

The Shops Volunteer Role  Provide excellence in customer service to patients, families, staff and all clientele  Conduct regular stock takes and record stock levels  Assist in the control of stock including the replenishing of shelves and refrigerators  Assist with the preparation of food for sale e.g. rolls, sandwiches, salads etc  Assist with washing of dishes and cleaning of food preparation areas  Assist with cash register and point of sale (POS) operation  May be special duties such as some administration assistance  Some heavy lifting required
