Want to help us change community attitudes about Mental Illness? Have you, a relative or a friend, experienced a mental illness? Can you relate well to young people and work in a team? Would you feel comfortable talking about your experiences?
Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) is looking for volunteers to give presentations about mental illness to High School and College students as well as to the ACT community.
All volunteers receive training, work in pairs, are reimbursed for expenses and enjoy on-going support from MIEACT staff, access to MIEACT resources (such as the library), training in public speaking, radio presentation and other professional development. The intital two day training, for successful participants, includes accreditaion for 'Apply Lived Experience in Mental Health Peer Work'.
MIEACT has been providing education presentations to the ACT community for over 20 years; our school education program is delivered to ACT Secondary Schools, Colleges and Universities.
