About this opportunity
You will find Puffing Billy Railway (PBR) in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. As the train meanders from Belgrave to Gembrook it transverses lush fern gullies and tranquil rainforests. It passes looming mountain ash trees and rolling paddocks. Trains run every day of the year with the exception of Christmas Day. We are easy to get to by train, bus or car (we have free parking for our volunteers).
The museum at Menzies Creek is still under construction. The main body of the building is complete but work is still to be done on tracks, display areas, office construction and landscaping. Help is needed to advance this exciting project to its completion. The work is hard and physical so you will need a high level of physical fitness. You will be trained in all aspects required to enable you to assist in the completion of the Puffing Billy Menzies Creek Museum.
PBR aims to provide a fun, relaxed and happy environment to volunteer in. We have a Volunteer Service Team (VST) whose role is to support our volunteers and assist in making your volunteer experience positive and fun. We have a Volunteers Recognition Officer who oversees the acknowledgement of volunteer contributions. PBR volunteers receive discount on train tickets and most items sold in our retail shops.
All volunteers and staff at PBR require a current Working with Children Check and a National Police Certificate. Our VST will assist with the application of these requirements.
To apply to be part of our Puffing Billy Railway family in our museum team please tick on the ‘Expression of Interest’ icon.
