Amnesty International relies on the work of volunteers to help defend human rights around the world. AI is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that enables you, as a volunteer and activist, to get involved by joining a specific activist group or campaigning upon human rights issues independently.
We are seeking passionate, reliable people, with strong communication and organisational skills to join the Amnesty volunteer network.
Amnesty International groups represent Amnesty in the local community with the purpose of undertaking a range of work that individual members and supporters on their own could not. As an organisation Amnesty International is, and has always been, heavily reliant upon its groups for its strength. We have a number of groups in the ACT and Southern NSW which include geographical and theme- based groups, ie the ANU group, or the Refugee group. These groups meet regularly and working in conjunction with our activist staff, help lift the profile of human rights issues within their community through organising exhibitions in libraries, articles in the local press and information stalls at markets and festivals.
If you are interested in getting involved and wish to find out more about Amnesty, you are welcome to come along to our next ‘Get Active’ information session.
Please let us know what areas you are interested in, what skills you possess and where you are located. The level of commitment of volunteering roles varies depending upon the requirements of the position and what you wish to offer.
