Patient biographies can take many forms: life stories, reflections, reviews of specific time or events, family stories, and tributes to loved ones. The volunteer tapes the client’s narrative during hour-long visits. Patients have the opportunity to focus on a productive activity unrelated to their illnesses.
After each session, the volunteer transcribes the recording and light edits into a word document. This can take up to four hours for each hour of interview and is done in the volunteer’s own time.
The completed biography is compiled, bound and presented by the biographer to the client and/or caregiver.
