As a Garden Mate you will work with an older person for one or two hours a week in their garden. Gardening is an important way for older people to keep fit and strong enough to stay living in their own homes. But as we age, some gardening jobs like bending down to weed, getting up again, reaching up to prune and lifting heavy weights become hard. Your job will be to work beside an older person and help them with these tasks.

By working with an older person you will help them to feel safe and confident to get outside. You will also be a friendly face with whom they can chat and share their passion for the garden.

We will offer you basic tools and training. We will reimburse you for your travel costs while you volunteer for us, keep you insured and keep you immunised against flu and tetanus.
