    Community Visitors generally come from people with a background in nursing, social work, police, university students studying psychology.
    Volunteers will need to have a genuine interest in people, be reliable and respect the confidentiality of the patients/residents.
    A drivers licence, National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check is required for this role.

    A current CV and 3 referees are required.
    Mandatory 2 day training course.
    Volunteers are required to work within the Fleurieu Peninsula area.

  • Reimbursement

    Reimbursed for travel and other reasonable out of pocket expenses

Community Visitors work in pairs on the Fleurieu Peninsula to conduct scheduled visits of facilities such as Mental health Treatment Centres, ED's, Supported Residential Facilities (SRFs).
Community Visitors inspect and report on - the standard of care and accommodation, the adequacy of information provided to patients/residents and their families, the adequacy and effectiveness of complaints process the attitude of staff towards patients/residents, the quality of communication between staff members, patients/residents, family members and guardians.
Patients have the opportunity to speak to Community Visitors regarding issues such as cleanliness, hygiene, safety, staff/patient interaction, treatment and care plans Following a visit, Community Visitors are required to provide a written report.
Time commitment is 3 visits per month.
