About this opportunity
The Youth Referral and Independent Person Program (YRIPP) is seeking committed volunteers to assist young people attend interviews at Police Stations. The Trained Independent Person (IP) attends the interview with a young person when a parent or guardian is not available. The role provides an important opportunity to support young people at a critical time and help divert those at risk of further offending. YRIPP looks for volunteers who have good communication and social skills, who are reliable, calm and self-reflective. Training and support provided. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. YRIPP is a program of The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).
Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
To attend volunteer meetings and activities on an ongoing basis. Attend compulsory training when required.
Volunteers are required to be on-call for at least 2 x 12 hour shifts per week. Volunteers must attend police station within 30 minutes of being called when on roster.Training
