HammondCare Wahroonga is launching a new pop-up café, serving coffee and baked goods to our residents who have dementia. When going out to a café is no longer an option for people, our onsite café will be bring joy to our elderly residents.
As a HammondCare volunteer, you'll engage with our elderly residents to potter in the gardens, tend the plants, or water the gardens. There's no hard labour involved, just an opportunity to give back and share your love of gardening.
On Wednesdays a small team of volunteers facilitate art and craft / creative activities for patients on the Aged Care Rehabilitation ward at Prince of Wales Hospital. Activities are undertaken either in a group or 1:1 at the bedside. Volunteers find they enjoy and benefit from their interactions with the patients, as much as the patients themselves.
The Prince of Wales Hospital at Randwick is on the look out for people to sing weekly with our elderly patients. This is an opportunity to do something really rewarding. Now we know this won't suit everyone - so we are only looking for those truly special individuals who want to give the gift of their time to our older patients in the Aged Care Rehabilitation ward. The ability to play an instrument would be advantageous but not necessary.
