  2. Twilight Toadbusting

    By supporting the Frogwatch organisation, we aim to reduce the numbers of Cane Toads, an invasive species of Australia. After an informative identification session we will head out to different environmentally sensitive sites including Botanical Gardens, Golflinks, RAAF Base in Winnellie and Lee Point to catch toads by hand and using nets.     The Hills Shire Council Australia Day celebrations will occur on January 26 2016 and will include all things Australiana. The day will include the Shire’s Colonial past, music performances by David Campbell, Christine Anu, Mahalia Barnes and Emma Pask. The day will also host Australia Day formalities including an Australian Citizenship Ceremony, Australia Day Awards and Ambassador Address. There will be Amusement rides, entertainment and free family fun for all ages.

    Join Conservation Volunteers Australia for a special Twilight Toadbusting evening at Lee Point Reserve by the beach. This is an important targeted area in which sand goannas and monitors reside. We will be supporting Frogwatch/Reptilewatch to help reduce numbers of Cane Toads in this specific breeding area.     The City of Albany regularly hold special events that range from the Christmas Festival to the Anzac Day Parade and many in between. Volunteers are an essential part of these events. Volunteers are needed for the Christmas Festival and Pageant on Saturday 3rd December 2016, Australia Day Festivities on Thursday 26th January 2017 and the Anzac Day Dawn and Commemorative Services on Tuesday 25th April 2017.
