Wetlands play a critical role in flood mitigation, water and carbon storage, and supporting an abundance of unique local plant and animal species. Conservation Volunteers are building a sustainable strategy for the management of this area and invite volunteers to be a part of this management with activities including weed removal, watering, tree trimming, track maintenance, tree planting, wildlife monitoring and surveys. This project aims to help reduce and control numbers of cane toads in local areas of Darwin. After an informative identification session we will head out to targeted breeding sites including Lee Point, East Point, Botanical Gardens and Golflinks to collect cane toads.Please call the office (08) 8981 3206 for further information or to book in to an upcoming session.
Come and assist CVA to enhance extent and connectivity of Box Gum Grassy Woodland. Tree planting will assist upper canopy species that are not regenerating well naturally, and increase biodiversity of this critically endangered ecosystem. This valuable exercise will increase the integrity of valuable woodlands and availability of habitat for threatened species known to occur in the area.
