AVIARY ATTENDANTS - Cleaning and feeding the birds, interacting with the birds checking their health and wellbeing, collecting and cleaning food dishes. We are looking for at least 3 Aviary attendants. On the job training given. . For those who are doing animal studies this is a great hands on experience with achievement certificates available. Mature persons and retirees welcome. Our sanctuary is a Centrelink and Work for the Dole approved workplace.
The volunteers assist riders with leading horses or walking along side riders/horses during their classes. All classes are designed and controlled by our qualified coach. Native wildlife needs your help. Rescue sick and injured birds, possums, lizards, turtles and frogs, and transport them to a vet for urgent assessment and treatment.
Farm Sanctuary work If you can commit to regular volunteering once a week or fortnight for at least six months, this is for you! Daily tasks include cleaning chicken/rooster houses and horse paddocks as well as sweeping and raking to keep the sanctuary safe. There will also be cleaning water troughs and bowls and grooming horses. Our volunteers are valued members of our team, without you we would be unable to do what we do, 'Where animals Live' is our proud motto.
Hooded Plovers are small coastal shorebirds. Listed as vulnerable nationally, there are less than 800 of these birds in South Australia with only 22 breeding pairs found on the Fleurieu Peninsula. There are multiple ways that you can assist to protect these birds. Fleurieu Hoodie Helpers are needed to monitor a given pair of birds on a particular beach and report sightings of bird behaviour.
