Come and assist CVA to enhance extent and connectivity of Box Gum Grassy Woodland. Tree planting will assist upper canopy species that are not regenerating well naturally, and increase biodiversity of this critically endangered ecosystem. This valuable exercise will increase the integrity of valuable woodlands and availability of habitat for threatened species known to occur in the area.
An exciting opportunity to help two of the rarest orchids in Nillumbik by removing weedy competition! Previous projects have been very successful in elimitating mature boneseed plants, however recent germination of seeds has caused this fast growing weed to threaten the orchids. Your help is needed to control the boneseed!
Be part of our Connected Communities program at Pembroke Primary School and get your hands dirty to build a drystone wall that will protect native grass species. We will provide transport from our Melbourne office (120 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne), departing at 8am and returning around 4pm. Or if you live local you can meet on-site by prior arrangement.
Pinkerton Forest on the Western Recycled Treatment Plant is registered as a Land For Wildlife Site. The grassy woodland is identified as critically endangered on the EPBC Act (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act). This is an ongoing project since 1992, with ongoing threats from invasive weeds and small boxthorn. Wildflowers and birdlife are abundant. Come and enjoy a day in the outdoors and assist CVA with weed removal and revegetation activities within the Forest!
Wetlands help keep our neighborhood healthy! Cranebrook Wetlands are not only home to native wildlife, including long neck turtles, frogs and native fish, but also help filter the water for our rivers, which eventually ends up back in our homes. Help rescue a local wetland by removing invasive weeds choking out native species!
Volunteer tasks include picking up marine debris, sorting debris into categories, weighing rubbish and recording data.
