Foodbank Collection & Delivery Driver

As a volunteer with us, you can provide valued support to Launch Housing and make a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness. The foodbank program allows people we work with to access additional food items during times of greatest need. The Foodbank Volunteer provides a great help by volunteering time to drive out to collect food from the Foodbank premises in Yarraville, and deliver them back to Launch Housing Collingwood office.

Salvation Army Coffee Van Volunteer

The Salvation Army Melbourne operates a Coffee van on Friday and Saturday nights at the Queen Street Maxi Cab rank, outside CQ Night Club. The Van sells hotdogs to people exiting nightclubs and provides free coffee to taxi drivers to encourage them to use the taxi rank. The coffee van is a social enterprise, where the profits go directly to support Melbourne’s homeless community. The Lighthouse coffee van operates from 11pm to 4am, Friday and Saturday nights.

Salvation Army Night Watch Volunteer

Night Watch extends the capabilities of the Mobile Outreach and Youth Street Teams services to operate 7 nights per week. Night Watch consists of 2 qualified & experienced Salvation Army workers & a team of trained volunteers who are based at 69 Bourke Street, Melb, from 11pm-7am, as well as being mobile in Melb CBD. The teams pro-actively engage with people on the streets, responding to calls from Police, Emergency Services and the general public.

Program Summary: The Night Café will build upon the existing daytime Lighthouse Café operation to provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive place for anyone homeless or at risk of homelessness in the City of Melbourne. Based at 69 Bourke Street Melbourne, the space will be open from 11PM-7am, 7 nights a week and will be staffed by 2 trained Salvation Army staff and supported by a team of 3-5 volunteers each night (partial cover of the shift is also welcome)

Our Shero Program gives Volunteers a chance to be part of the team by committing a few hours a few times a year. Share The Dignity has a few key collection campaigns (April, August and November) and are looking for willing Geraldton Volunteers to pick up donations and take them to our distribution partners.
