Di’s Story

I decided that a great way to start my volunteering was to apply to St Vincent De Paul’s, a wonderful chain of op-shops that donate to the less fortunate.

Soon enough, I was invited to help out on Saturdays. After doing this for half a year, I had made great volunteer buddies both my age and some who had been doing this for over 25 years and felt as if I was part of a big family. I was given a variety of jobs to do: from working at the cash register to organising, tagging and pricing clothes to creating displays and merchandising. This was an amazing experience for me, and still is to this very day, as every week I learn more and more about how great it feels to do things for others and help out my community.
