Emotional support and companionship is so important for senior Australians, particularly following the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this, and to address the decline in volunteers during this time, the Australian Government is encouraging the return of volunteers and encouraging new volunteers to residential aged care facilities (RACFs).
The main jobs will be returning to full operation 3 Mirrless generators as well as maintaining several Petter back up engines (fire pump, air compressor and generator as well as a second back up generator. ) You'll be allowing to further educate the public on how a ship operated as well as inspire people intrested in a career in mechanical repair.
Deck Crew cleaning. Assist in keeping the exterior of the historic museum ship MV Cape Don as well as cargo hold and stores clean and presentable for tours and visitors.
Assist the chef in providing meals to the volunteers. Cleaning up afterwards And keeping the galley and dinning room clean
Working under our senior radio room volunteer you'll be restoring historic radio equipment back to life to show the public how communication at sea developed.
Duties will incude assisting the various tradespeople, engineers, deck crew and tour guides with different jobs. From helping with tools and running wiring to acting as a runner to the tour guides.
Use pneumatic and electric tools to remove rust and scale off metal surfaces and then apply paint correctly. You'll be both improving the appearance of the vessel but also stopping any deterioration.
Assist in keeping the interior of the MV Cape Don (a historic museum ship) clean
Engine room presentation crew We are preparing to bring the engine room back to life. As part of that we need to get the engine room as clean as possible. We are looking for volunteers to help clean and polish (potentially repainting as well) It'll improve the experience for visitors to the ship as well
Restore and rebuild the historic MV Cape Dons water systems. The former lighthouse tender is now a museum and training ship undergoing restoration. The ability to improve the showering and toilets as well as waste water faculties onboard will make love easier for the rest of the volunteers

you'll be working alongside the engine room crew preparing and repainting various surfaces in the engine room and other machinery spaces
You'll be working with our team restoring the historic lighthouse tender MV Cape Dons electrical systems Including 240vAC, 220VDC and 32VDC The impact will include improving interior and exterior lighting. Showing of the vessel in a better light. And help bring machinery to life
The Award Winning Pichi Richi Railway could be for you! We are looking for volunteers who can provide customer service to our passenger customers. Our front of house role, involves meeting people, answering their questions and generally making sure they know where & when to board their trains and provide assistance as needed. Working with our ticket sales team in the Station Ticket Office and checking-In train passengers.

This is a fabulous role for someone who wants to be part of an award winning team to ensure our passengers enjoy their onboard experience as they travel with us. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our passenger's rail experience.
