Located on the Brisbane River at the southern end of South Bank Parklands the Queensland Maritime Museum is open to visitors every day of the year except 24 December to 26 December and Good Friday. Reduced trading hours occur Anzac Day. With low admission costs and a wide range of interesting maritime displays the Museum attracts more than 40,000 visitors per annum including families, school groups, tour groups, inter-state and international visitors. Visitors are surprised at how much there is to see in the Museum and a “quick” visit will take them a couple of hours, without allowing time for detail inspection. The Queensland Maritime Museum is staffed by an enthusiastic and informed group of volunteers who make our visitors' experiences as enjoyable and informative as possible. Volunteer roles include (but are not limited to): - Museum Guides - Diamantina Guides - Forceful Guides - Shop and Ticketing Assistants - Historic Walking Tour Guides - Graphic Designers - Administration Officers - Gardeners - Carpenters - Metal Workers - General Maintenance Workers - Exhibition Organisers - Duty Managers We put volunteers first and without our volunteers, Queensland Maritime Museum would not be the iconic Brisbane based State renowned museum it is today!
