Story dogs is a fun reading support program with selected children reading to a gentle dog and its handler. Sessions are conducted at the school and run for 15-20 minutes each child on a one-on-one basis with the dog team.
Our mission is to make reading fun for children so they become confident, lifelong readers.
Story Dogs’ volunteers are dog lovers who are enthusiastic about supporting children’s progress with literacy development. The volunteers have their own dogs or may use another person's dog. The volunteers and their dogs are assessed for suitability and complete a training course.
