The Lifeline Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention 13 11 14 Helpline is solely funded by earnings from Lifeline Shops. Lifeline North Coast has 5 shops and a warehouse which all depend on our warehouse and retail volunteers to run smoothly. Funds earned through these shops directly go towards keeping our local call center open in Coffs Harbour, allowing our team of locally trained Crisis Supporters to answer calls from help seekers in their darkest moments. Lifeline North Coast's vision is for an Australia free of suicide, so when you volunteer with us you become part of the solution. NINE AUSTRALIANS die every day by suicide. That’s more than double the road toll, and each life lost to suicide impacts up to 135 people, including family members, work colleagues, friends, and first responders at the time of death. The Lifeline North Coast center contributes to the nationwide Lifeline 13 11 14 Crisis Support via the crisis line 24/7, offers Bereavement Support Group; runs Suicide intervention training and domestic and family violence awareness training - DV-Alert, and trains and manages a team of local Crisis Supporters. We also provide Low-cost clothing & furniture through our retail outlets. The purpose of Lifeline is to support and empower people to live more meaningful lives by delivering inclusive innovative services that are characterised by compassion and social justice. Lifeline North Coast is aware that our region has one of the highest rates of suicide in New South Wales. The ABS also indicates that our region has the highest aged population and lowest socio-economic towns in NSW.
