Aussie Hands provides support, understanding and encouragement to individuals with a hand difference*, their families and communities. The Aussie Hands website shares information, stories and resources. An active FaceBook closed group is a platform for networking and sharing experiences. Aussie Hands organises events, workshops and programs in each state of Australia throughout each year so families can meet and spend time together. In 2017, Aussie Hands together with Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital founded the Australian Hand Difference Register (AHDR). The AHDR gathers data on the number of babies born with a hand difference and conducts research into possible causes, risk factors and services required. Aussie Hands sponsors Limb Difference Awareness week in October each year to raise awareness about living with a hand or upper limb difference, promote inclusion and celebrate difference. Jessica Smith, OAM is the Patron of Aussie Hands. *A hand difference encompasses a hand missing fingers, fused fingers, no fingers, no hand, arm deficiency.
