Coatesville Primary School

Coatesville Primary School is located on Mackie Road, East Bentleigh, a residential suburb in the city of Glen Eira, south-east of Melbourne. We are an authorised International Baccalaureate-Primary Years Program (IB-PYP) World School. We belong to a global, educational community that strives to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Coatesville Primary School is part of the South East Victoria Region (SEVR) and, in particular, the Inner Sub Region of schools. We strongly support State Education and work collaboratively with our local government schools to improve the academic progress and social/emotional wellbeing of all students within our network. Strong parental involvement and community connectedness have been the hallmarks of Coatesville Primary School since it opened its doors in 1953. Coatesville's student population has grown rapidly. Our 2020 student population is 816. Due to our strong rate of growth a "Neighbourhood Boundary" is now in place. We attract high quality staff who are committed to academic excellence and the principles of the IB-PYP, as well as the school's Values of Respect, Responsibility, Achievement, Harmony and Cooperation. Our grounds and facilities are outstanding. New buildings provide 21st century learning environments that inspire students to be the best they can be. There is a commitment to small class sizes from Prep-Grade 6, as well as to the provision of specialist teachers e.g. Art, Music, Physical Education, Languages Other Than English (LOTE) - French and Environmental Science. A range of programs is provided to support students who are working either below or well above their expected Grade, both within their classroom setting and on a limited withdrawal basis. Every opportunity is taken to utilise and maximise government funds to enable teachers to work intensively with students. Our beautiful grounds attract outside organisations who use our school premises for a range of purposes, including Auskick, Mackie Cricket Club, soccer clubs, ArtSmart, Active After School Care and Language classes. The school facilities are available for hire, upon application.
