Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local communities are safe. Volunteers carry out a range of activities including: Responding to local emergencies, such as: structure fires; bush and scrub fires; vehicle and industrial rescue; and hazardous materials emergencies. Working with the community to identify and manage local fire risk. Undertaking local fire prevention activities with the community. Educating school children in fire safety. Working with residents to improve family and household fire safety.
