Delta Dog Safe is a child-health initiative promoting safe behaviour around dogs. Trained volunteer educators deliver targeted community education in schools and child-care centres across Tasmania, providing practical ways young children and their families can reduce the incidence of dog bites. Primary objectives: • to promote the health and safety of young children throughout Tasmania • a reduction in the incidence of dog bites • to reduce the incidence of personal trauma as a result of dog bite injury • to increase children’s understanding of dogs’ needs and behaviours • a reduction in the cost to the community for treatment of dog bite injuries
