Lions Assistance Dogs

Logo for Lions Assistance Dogs

Since 1980, Lions Assistance Dogs (formerly Australian Lions Hearing Dogs) have provided a set of ‘furry ears’ to many hundreds of Australians, this is all made possible from the ongoing support of our generous donors and the Lions Clubs across Australia. Each Assistance Dog costs ALHD just under $40,000 to train, deliver and support. However, they go to their recipients free of charge, a gift from our organisation and our committed supporters. Lions Assistance Dogs trains and provides Hearing Assistance Dogs to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, Medical Assistance Dogs to people with type 1 diabetes, and Psychiatric Assistance Dogs to Veterans of the Australian Defence Force with PTSD.
